Every MedTech startup hits it. That moment when the early-stage energy starts to fade. The prototypes are built. The concept works. And now… it’s time to grind through clinicals, iteration, and scale. In this MedTech Snapshot, Kevin Stewart, CTO of Revalve Solutions, talks about what it actually takes to lead through that phase. It starts with alignment. If your team doesn’t understand the bigger mission, the work starts to feel like a slowdown instead of progress. But when people are bought into the idea that they’re helping bring a therapy to life, the long timeline starts to make sense. He also points out something a lot of teams learn the hard way. Not every engineer wants to make that transition. Some thrive in early invention. Others are wired to build, refine, and scale. Hiring for that adaptability matters more than most people realize. And then there’s the balance. You can’t completely shut off innovation just because you’re in clinicals. Teams still need space to improve, question, and build. Even if it’s a small percentage of their time, it keeps the energy alive. It’s a simple idea, but not an easy one to execute because this phase isn’t flashy, but it’s where real companies get built.
